Metro53 - MARDAN: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that while Imran Khan was long accused of advancing a Western agenda, it is in fact the incumbent government that is implementing it in its true form.

Speaking at a ceremony in Mardan, the JUI-F leader said that former US president Donald Trump had “Palestinian blood on his hands,” yet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was advocating for Trump to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

He said Pakistan must revisit its approach towards Afghanistan, adding that armed groups should abandon militancy as “war is never a solution.”

Commenting on the state of the economy, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the country had not become what its people had hoped for. He claimed the Constitution had been reduced to a “plaything,” with the will of powerful quarters prevailing over public aspirations.

He also criticised the 27th Amendment, alleging that lawmakers were “purchased” to fabricate a majority for its passage.

The JUI-F chief added that Pakistan’s Afghan policy had “completely failed,” noting that despite 78 years, the country had been unable to build a genuine friendship with Afghanistan.
