Metro53 - Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Amid widespread social media debate, 60-year-old Hakim Babar of Rawalpindi has defended his marriage to a much younger woman, saying in a video message that “age is just a number” and that he has done nothing wrong.
The wedding, held in Chaklala Scheme‑3, quickly went viral online, sparking discussions, criticism, and support across various platforms. In his video, Hakim Babar explained that their marriage was both arranged and love-based—they developed mutual affection before formalizing it through a legal and religious nikah.
He emphasized that true importance lies in the youth of the heart rather than age. He also stated that his wife was previously divorced, and he acted according to divine guidance and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. He questioned why critics are making negative comments, arguing that many who criticize him are themselves engaged in casual relationships but avoid marriage.
The young bride supported her husband’s stance, saying that when love is genuine, age should not be an obstacle, and marriage should not be delayed once the right partner is found.
The couple announced plans to perform Umrah after Eid‑ul‑Fitr, followed by a visit to the Netherlands.
Social media reactions remain mixed: some users expressed concern over the age difference, while others defended the marriage, praising it as a proper and lawful alternative to unethical relationships.
