Metro53 - WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s oil infrastructure could face serious operational risks within the next three days, linking the situation to logistical pressures amid ongoing maritime restrictions.
In an interview with Fox News, Mr Trump said that disruptions in the transportation of crude oil could create significant internal pressure within pipelines, potentially leading to technical failures if exports remain blocked.
He suggested that the inability to move oil via tankers has forced Iran to rely heavily on limited storage facilities, warning that such conditions could strain infrastructure systems.
However, energy analysts have urged caution regarding the claims, noting that while storage constraints and export disruptions can impact production, precise predictions of “system collapse” are highly uncertain.
According to reports cited in international media, Iran has shifted part of its oil storage to land-based facilities due to maritime restrictions. Experts warn that prolonged shutdowns in production could damage oil reservoirs and reduce long-term output capacity.
Iran currently produces an estimated two million barrels of oil per day, while its storage capacity is believed to be limited to a few weeks of supply under current conditions.
Economists also note that reduced global supply—already impacted by geopolitical tensions—could contribute to fluctuations in international fuel prices if output declines further.
Iranian authorities have not issued an immediate response to the remarks.
