The delegation was led by Yang Wei, Deputy Mayor of Loudi City in China's Hunan Province. Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain also attended the meeting, along with local industrialists.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, with particular focus on enhancing trade, investment and industrial collaboration. They also reviewed the recently signed Sister City Agreement between Gujrat and Loudi City, aimed at promoting closer economic and institutional ties.
Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said China had always stood firmly with Pakistan during difficult times, whether in war, peace, floods, earthquakes or other natural disasters. He said the two countries had consistently maintained a shared stance on key international issues and noted that Pakistan was among the first countries to recognise the People's Republic of China.
He described China's rapid economic progress as a model for Pakistan, saying the country could accelerate its own development by benefiting from Chinese technology, expertise and investment. He added that the Gujrat-Loudi Sister City Agreement would create new opportunities for cooperation and bring tangible benefits to the people of both cities.
Yang Wei praised Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for his contribution to strengthening Pakistan-China economic relations and expressed confidence that bilateral friendship and cooperation would continue to grow. He said practical steps would be taken to ensure the swift implementation of the Sister City Agreement and thanked the former prime minister for hosting the delegation.
Punjab Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain briefed the delegation on the growing investment of Chinese companies in Punjab and shared details of the Gujrat-Loudi Sister City Agreement. He said the agreement would pave the way for Chinese companies to invest in Gujrat, creating new employment opportunities for local residents and further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about expanding cooperation in industry, trade, technology and investment under the framework of the Pakistan-China strategic partnership.
