Metro53 - Lahore: President of Pakistan Muslim League and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain met Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi at his residence. Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Chaudhry Shafay Hussain was also present on the occasion. Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi inquired about the health of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Talking to the media, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has rendered invaluable services to the country and the nation. He stated that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and his family have played a significant role in the cause of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (PBUH) and religious affairs, adding that no major religious initiative was completed without the involvement of the Chaudhry family. He further said that when Chaudhry Salik Hussain held the portfolio of Religious Affairs, arrangements for Hajj were transparent and well-managed. He also appreciated the public service being carried out by Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.
On the occasion, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that Pakistan’s brave armed forces are fully safeguarding the country’s geographical borders. He stated that the armed forces taught India a lesson during the May conflict that it would not forget. He added that the armed forces are also actively engaged in the fight against terrorism and that lasting peace is essential to promote investment in the country. He said that the armed forces and security institutions are making unmatched sacrifices to maintain peace, and the entire nation stands with the Pakistan Army for the establishment of peace.
According to Dunya News, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain briefed the participants on the measures taken to improve the functioning of the Auqaf Department. He also shared details of steps being taken to promote investment in Punjab.
Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that the Auqaf Department is being digitized, while renovation and beautification work at shrines and mosques under the department is ongoing. He added that work on the expansion project of Data Darbar is progressing at a fast pace. He further stated that Quran Board and Ulema Board are being formed in consultation with religious scholars, and the Quran Complex building will be utilized for the promotion of religious education.
He also said that a comprehensive campaign is underway to retrieve Auqaf land from encroachment mafias and that the department is fully committed to eliminating all forms of corruption.
