Moonis Elahi Claims Pakistan Tops Global Beggar Rankings in 2025

Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi has claimed that Pakistan ranks first in the world in terms of the number of beggars in 2025, followed by Nigeria in second place and Syria in third.

In a statement, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi said that rising poverty and unemployment in the country have forced citizens into begging to meet their basic needs. He stated that a record 60,000 Pakistani beggars have been deported from different countries, highlighting that poverty and economic instability have become serious issues in Pakistan.

He further said that the failure of the current government’s policies and economic measures has resulted not only in a lack of basic facilities for citizens but has also left the youth insecure about their future. Criticizing the government, Moonis Elahi said, “The Shehbaz Sharif government paved the way for turning the country into a nation of beggars, the direct impact of which has emerged in the form of unemployment and poverty. Record unemployment has produced a record number of beggars.”

The PTI leader urged the government to take immediate steps to address poverty, unemployment, and the growing number of beggars. He emphasized that providing education, employment, and economic development opportunities is essential to make people self-reliant so they are not forced to beg in foreign countries.

Chaudhry Moonis Elahi said that Pakistan’s top position in global rankings is alarming and reflects how government economic policies have negatively affected the living standards of the people. He stressed the need for urgent and practical economic reforms to improve the quality of life and ensure that Pakistan does not remain at the top of the global list of beggars.
