Metro53 - DHAKA: Pakistan national cricket team were bowled out for 232 in their first innings on the second day of the second Test against Bangladesh national cricket team in Sylhet, handing the hosts a valuable 46-run first-innings lead.
Resuming their innings at 21 without loss, Pakistan struggled to build momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals throughout the day.
Openers Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal were dismissed for 13 and 9 respectively, putting the visitors under early pressure. Captain Shan Masood also failed to convert his start and returned to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs.
Amid the top-order collapse, Babar Azam played a composed innings of 68 runs, emerging as Pakistan’s leading scorer. However, he received little support from the other end as the middle order once again struggled to deliver.
Saud Shakeel managed only eight runs, while Agha Salman scored 21 and Mohammad Rizwan added 13 before Pakistan’s innings came to an end at 232.
Earlier, Bangladesh had posted 278 in their first innings, thanks largely to a brilliant century from Litton Das, who scored 126 runs to anchor the hosts’ batting effort.
For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad claimed four wickets, while Mohammad Abbas took three. Hasan Ali picked up two wickets and Sajid Khan chipped in with one dismissal.
The Sylhet encounter is the second and final match of the two-Test series, with Bangladesh already holding a 1-0 lead after securing a historic 104-run victory in the opening Test.
Pakistan now face mounting pressure to stage a comeback and avoid a series defeat, while concerns over the team’s batting performances in overseas conditions continue to draw criticism from former players and analysts.
