Metro53 - GUJRAT: A youth was shot dead while another sustained serious injuries in a late-night firing incident allegedly linked to an old enmity in the Kakrout area of Sarai Alamgir, police said on Friday.
According to initial reports, armed assailants lying in wait opened indiscriminate fire on the victims, leaving one dead on the spot and another critically wounded.
The deceased was identified as Ali Fareed, a resident of Mahay Kalan, while the injured, Mubeenullah Ditta, belongs to Kakrout village.
Police officials said the firing also struck horses present at the scene, killing one of the animals.
Rescue teams and police personnel reached the site soon after the incident and shifted the body and injured man to THQ Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment.
Police sources described the incident as the outcome of a previous rivalry. A case has been registered at Saddar police station on the complaint of the deceased’s father against six nominated suspects.
Further investigation is under way.
