Metro53 - JHELUM: A sacrificial goat purchased for Eidul Azha was allegedly stolen from a house in the limits of the Civil Lines police station in Jhelum, causing concern among residents ahead of the religious festival.
According to the goat’s owner, identified as Matloob Hussain, the animal had been bought around two and a half months ago for the purpose of performing the Sunnat-i-Ibrahimi during Eidul Azha.
He said unknown suspects entered the family’s courtyard in Mohallah Dhoke Muqarrab under the cover of darkness and escaped with the goat during the night.
The incident has sparked concern in the locality as residents fear an increase in theft cases involving sacrificial animals before Eid.
Police said they had been informed about the incident and efforts were underway to trace the suspects with the help of CCTV footage installed in the area. Investigations are in progress.
