Metro53 - JHELUM: Two men, including the brother of a local journalist, were killed and two children sustained serious injuries in a shooting incident reportedly linked to a family dispute, police and rescue officials said.
According to media reports, armed assailants lying in wait opened fire in the Kamonki area, targeting members of a family. As a result, Habibullah Sindhu, brother of journalist Abrar Sindhu, and his uncle Izrar Sindhu were killed on the spot.
The attack also left two children seriously injured, including Habibullah's 13-year-old son, Abdul Rehman, and a six-year-old passer-by, Muaz. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Sources said the suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Police arrived shortly afterward, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation to trace and arrest those involved.
The bodies of the deceased were taken into custody for legal formalities, while the injured victims remain under medical care.
The incident spread fear and panic in the locality. Police officials said investigations are under way from multiple angles, and raids are being conducted to apprehend the suspects responsible for the attack.
Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the motive behind the shooting, though preliminary information suggests it stemmed from a longstanding family dispute.
