Metro53 - Lahore: Journalist Rahma Malik has made a series of allegations regarding inappropriate conduct by certain members of Pakistan’s media industry, claiming that some journalists and producers have attempted to exploit women entering the profession.

In a video statement, Malik referred to recent remarks by journalist Mansoor Ali Khan about a media personality who allegedly sent inappropriate messages to a woman. She said that, if required, additional messages and evidence from various women could also be presented.

Malik alleged that a well-known television journalist once made a video call to a woman from a washroom without realizing that the call was being recorded. She did not identify the individual and provided no public evidence to support the claim.

She further alleged that some prominent producers in the media industry attempt to take advantage of women who are new to the profession. According to her, several women have received inappropriate messages from influential figures working in media and other institutions.

The journalist also claimed that some individuals who had previously been linked to controversies continue to contact women with unsolicited messages. She alleged that, in some cases, professional opportunities or inclusion in official delegations were allegedly used to seek personal favors in return.

Malik urged greater attention to the challenges faced by women in professional environments and called for accountability where misconduct is proven.

The individuals referred to in the video statement were not named, and the allegations have not been independently verified. No response from those allegedly involved was available at the time of reporting.
