Metro53 - GUJRAT: A man was shot dead and another injured when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on them as they were returning home after attending a court hearing, police said.
The incident occurred near Dalle Wala Phatak in Lalamusa, where motorcycle-riding gunmen intercepted the victims and opened fire. As a result, one person died on the spot, while his companion sustained injuries.
According to initial reports, the attackers managed to flee the scene immediately after the shooting.
Police and rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident. The injured victim was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the body of the deceased was taken into custody for legal formalities.
Police have cordoned off the crime scene and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those responsible.
Officials said efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspects, while further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
