Metro53 - JHELUM: Assistant Commissioner Aftab Ashraf conducted a detailed inspection of imambargahs and central Muharram procession routes in Jhelum to review administrative and security arrangements ahead of the holy month.
Accompanied by officials from various government departments, the assistant commissioner assessed preparations relating to cleanliness, road repairs, street lighting, security measures and traffic management along the designated procession routes.
During the visit, departmental representatives briefed the administration on the progress of ongoing arrangements and the steps being taken to facilitate mourners during Muharram.
Aftab Ashraf directed all relevant departments to ensure the timely completion of foolproof security and administrative measures at imambargahs and along procession routes. He warned that any negligence or delay in implementing the required arrangements would not be tolerated.
He stated that providing a peaceful, secure and well-facilitated environment for mourners was the district administration’s foremost priority, enabling them to perform their religious obligations without inconvenience.
The assistant commissioner also instructed authorities to maintain cleanliness, adequate lighting, water supply and smooth traffic flow at venues hosting processions and religious gatherings. He further directed security agencies to remain vigilant and strengthen monitoring mechanisms to prevent any untoward incident.
Emphasising the importance of interdepartmental coordination, he urged all concerned institutions to work in close cooperation and implement a joint strategy to ensure the smooth conduct of Muharram activities and the maintenance of law and order.
Aftab Ashraf reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to utilising all available resources to ensure public convenience and security during Muharram, adding that every possible measure would be taken to facilitate mourners and uphold a peaceful atmosphere throughout the observances.
