Metro53 - Gujrat/Kharian (Web Desk): Heavy rainfall caused the roof of a property in Kabari Bazaar, Kharian, to collapse, trapping 16 donkeys underneath the debris.
An Additional Director of the Livestock Department, accompanied by a team, reached the site, expressed condolences to the affected owner and arranged medical treatment, medicines and feed for the injured animals.
According to details, the makeshift roof of a building used to shelter the animals collapsed due to heavy rain. Sixteen donkeys were tied beneath the roof when it came down.
Rescue personnel promptly reached the site and carried out an operation lasting nearly two hours. Twelve donkeys were successfully rescued, while four died after being trapped under the rubble.
Deputy Commissioner Gujrat also took immediate notice of the incident and directed the Livestock Department team to assist the affected owner. The team provided medicines and feed to the injured donkeys.
