Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin visited Gujrat to review drainage arrangements and WASA projects following continuous heavy rainfall in the district.
During his visit, the minister inspected the Kallra and Jinnah Disposal Stations as well as Loraan Chowk, where he reviewed ongoing field operations for the drainage of accumulated rainwater.
Bilal Yasin said that drainage-related difficulties caused by persistent rains in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujrat and Wazirabad had been addressed. He added that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reviews WASA projects and drainage measures on a daily basis, while major projects aimed at ensuring timely drainage would soon be implemented.
Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi and WASA Managing Director Kashan Hafeez Butt briefed the provincial minister on the administration’s response and the current drainage situation.
District Council Chief Officer Syed Faraz Mehdi and other relevant officials were also present during the visit.
