Metro53 - NEW DELHI (Web Desk) — Jiniya Chatterjee from the Indian city of Mumbai has won INR 963,400 (over PKR 2.826 million) and a free vacation trip after participating in a unique 60-day sleep competition.

According to Indian media reports, more than 200,000 people from across India applied for the 2-month-long competition organized by home solutions company Wakefit; however, after various rounds and interviews, only 10 candidates were selected.

In the competition, participants were tasked with sleeping regularly, maintaining a set sleep routine, and taking part in interesting weekly activities. Scores and rankings were assigned based on their daily performance.

During the contest, participants were also given fun challenges such as recreating famous movie scenes with a sleep-related twist, reviewing a week's worth of sleep habits, and using the words 'blanket' or 'pillow' 10 times during a conversation without revealing it to the other person. The top-performing candidate of each week was declared the "Pro Sleeper of the Week".

In the finals, candidates faced two major challenges, while in the last stage, all contestants spent one night in a customized environment of their choice, and the winner was selected based on their sleep scores.

Thus, Jiniya Chatterjee emerged as India's sleep champion and was awarded INR 963,400 in cash along with a sponsored vacation trip by the company.

According to Indian media, this competition was first launched in 2019. In its initial four seasons, it received over 1 million applications, and 65 participants were awarded stipends of INR 100,000 each.
