According to his lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, Imran Khan remained smiling and was not surprised by the decision. He has instructed his legal team to file an appeal in the High Court.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Salman Safdar said the legal team was informed around 8 PM last night that proceedings would continue the next morning. However, they did not expect a verdict on that day. He added that the judge had adjourned the case on October 16, and the date was initially set only for arguments, not for announcing the decision.
The lawyer alleged that the judge illegally delivered the verdict, reading a 59-page decision in the absence of lawyers, without fulfilling the required legal procedures. He noted that historically, decisions from Adiala Jail have not always been based on merit, and relief has often been granted through the High Court.
Barrister Safdar stated that despite intense challenges and a busy schedule, Imran Khan maintained his composure and directed his team to proceed with the appeal. The appeal will be filed in the High Court to ensure the legal process is completed.
