Metro53 - Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Bar Council member Ahsan Bhon said that the statement by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz regarding the esteemed Chief Justice is regrettable and urged her to withdraw it.
Speaking to the media, Ahsan Bhon criticized the Punjab government’s approach to the Property Ownership Act, calling it inappropriate and unserious. He said those who drafted the law provided wrong advice.
He further stated that there has never been a complaint against the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, who has always acted in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
Bhon added that setting up courts is not the government’s job and warned that if the government continues such actions, lawyers will take to the streets. He appreciated the government’s work in education and health and emphasized that the supremacy of Parliament should always be respected.
He also stressed that making laws is the responsibility of Parliament, while courts interpret them, and suggested that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz may have been misled on this issue.
