Metro53 - Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has once again rejected the government’s proposal for negotiations, making it clear that the party’s stance remains unchanged in the current political situation. The government, on the other hand, has reiterated that meaningful dialogue is not possible without an apology or express

Imran Khan’s Position and Party Policy

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Imran Khan conveyed a clear message that is being seen as a direct response to calls for dialogue by Mahmood Khan Achakzai. PTI Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that Imran Khan’s instructions regarding the protest movement are final and will be strictly followed by the party leadership.

He added that Imran Khan has directed the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to make preparations for protests aimed at ensuring the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. According to Sheikh Waqas Akram, there is no ambiguity in the party’s policy.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s Appeal

A day earlier, during a national conference of the opposition alliance, Mahmood Khan Achakzai emphasized the need for negotiations, stating that the Constitution had suffered severe damage. He urged Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman to play their role, asserting that dialogue was essential to pull the country out of crisis.

On the same day, Imran Khan adopted a strongly critical tone in his statement, criticizing a field marshal and signaling preparations for a protest movement. This statement has been widely interpreted as a clear rejection of talks.

Government’s Firm Response

Sources close to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif clarified the government’s position, stating that the events of May 9 cannot be ignored. According to the government, attacks on military installations constitute serious crimes, and negotiations are not possible without an apology for the anti-military campaign.

The sources emphasized that accountability for the May 9 incidents is essential and that trust cannot be restored without an expression of regret. Under such circumstances, the government believes initiating dialogue is not feasible.

Political Landscape and Outlook

The current situation reflects a clear divide between the two sides. While PTI remains committed to a protest-driven approach, the government continues to condition negotiations on an apology. This ongoing deadlock is likely to further intensify political tensions in the country.
