Pakistan Announce T20I Squad for Sri Lanka Series Ahead of World Cup

Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 International series against Sri Lanka ahead of the World Cup. The national team will depart for Sri Lanka in phases on January 4 and 5, 2026.

Salman Ali Agha will lead Pakistan in the series. Wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Muhammad Nafiq has earned his maiden call-up to the T20I squad, while Shadab Khan has returned following shoulder surgery.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play three T20 International matches, all scheduled to be held in Dambulla. The matches will take place on January 7, 9, and 11. The T20I series is expected to play a key role in finalizing Pakistan’s World Cup squad.

The T20 squad includes Salman Ali Agha, Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Muhammad Nafiq, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Usman Khan, and Usman Tariq.

It is noteworthy that Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf, who are currently in Australia for the Big Bash League, will not be part of the series against Sri Lanka. Shaheen Afridi is also suffering from a knee injury.
