Metro53 - Jhelum (Web Desk): Like the rest of Punjab, police in Jhelum have finalized a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order on New Year’s night. Under the plan, strict security measures have been put in place along with clearly defined penalties for violations.
According to media reports, Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has directed that security be kept on high alert across the province and instructed all field formations to remain fully vigilant.
On New Year’s night, more than 25,000 police officers and personnel will perform security duties across Punjab, while over 5,000 officers will be deployed in Lahore alone.
The deployed force will include 419 inspectors, 1,267 sub-inspectors, 2,189 assistant sub-inspectors, 1,408 head constables, and 16,977 constables.
Police have appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity, one-wheeling, or aerial firing by calling the helpline 15, so that timely action can be taken.
The IG Punjab has further directed that all activities across the province, including Jhelum, be closely monitored through CCTV cameras, with special attention given to anti-state elements, suspicious individuals, and those involved in violations of the law. This comprehensive police strategy is being termed an important step to ensure public safety and maintain law and order on New Year’s night.
