Metro53 - London (Web Desk): Former England star cricketer Kevin Pietersen has made a strong appeal to the International Cricket Council (ICC), expressing serious concerns over the reported spread of the Nipah virus in India.

Kevin Pietersen stated that the Nipah virus is spreading rapidly in India and alleged that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not being transparent about the situation. He urged the ICC to send its own medical panel to India to independently assess the ground realities, saying that the reports emerging from India raise serious questions.

The former England batter said that the situation in India does not appear to be normal, adding that the Indian cricket board’s silence suggests concerns that the World Cup could be shifted from India. However, Pietersen emphasized that human lives must be given priority over cricket.

He further stated that he would request the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to dispatch its own medical team to India before sending the England team there, stressing that player safety and health should come before sporting commitments.
