Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain has stated that the government is fully aware of the issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and that providing them with maximum facilities is a top priority. He said that the Pakistan Consulate in Barcelona is issuing around 600 authority letters for character certificates on a daily basis.
In a statement, Chaudhry Salik said that to facilitate overseas Pakistanis, the Barcelona Consulate has abolished weekend holidays and is now operating on Saturdays and Sundays as well. He added that the consulate is processing approximately 200 passports daily.
The federal minister further stated that around 600 authority letters for character certificates are being issued every day. He clarified that a valid justification is required for the issuance of a new passport. In cases where the passport is still valid, a new passport can only be issued upon submission of a loss report. For permanent passport issuance in Spain, previous passports or a loss report are mandatory.
Chaudhry Salik also said that the ministry and the consulate are in constant coordination with the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. He added that efforts are underway to simplify the procedure for passport loss reports to further facilitate overseas Pakistanis.
