Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): Preparations by WASA Gujrat ahead of the monsoon season are in full swing. To protect the city from flooding, a survey for a new drainage line has been conducted. Managing Director WASA, Kashan Hafeez Butt, along with newly elected President Gujrat Bar, Syed Fida Hussain, and members of the legal fraternity, visited GT Road Khattala and Halsey Nala.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Gujrat has initiated emergency measures ahead of the monsoon season to safeguard the city from potential flood situations and the accumulation of rainwater. In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, work has begun on major development projects in Gujrat to resolve long-standing issues related to sewerage and drainage.
Considering the heavy traffic areas of GT Road Khattala and Halsey Nala, the survey for the construction of a new drain approximately one kilometer in length has been completed. Following the survey, the newly elected President Gujrat Bar, Syed Fida Hussain, visited the site. The proposed drain will be 10 feet wide and 7 feet deep, aimed at ensuring the timely disposal of rainwater and preventing urban areas from submerging during the monsoon season.
The Managing Director WASA briefed the Bar President on the drainage route, technical aspects, ground realities, project design, drainage capacity, and construction phases. MD WASA Kashan Hafeez Butt stated that complaints of water accumulation are received every year during the monsoon in Gujrat, and a modern drainage system is being constructed as a permanent solution to this issue.
