Metro53 - SYDNEY (Web Desk): Australian 18-year-old sprinter Gout Gout has made history by delivering a stunning performance in the 200m race, surpassing a benchmark previously associated with legendary sprinter Usain Bolt.

During the national championships in Sydney, Gout clocked 19.67 seconds, setting a new under-20 world record and producing the fastest legal time of his career.

It was the first time the young sprinter officially broke the 20-second barrier, as his previous 19.84-second performance last year was not ratified due to wind assistance.

The achievement not only marks the fastest time of the year but also surpasses Bolt’s 2004 junior mark of 19.93 seconds, which he set at the age of 17.

Interestingly, Bolt never recorded a faster junior time than this benchmark during his early career.

American sprinter Erriyon Knighton still holds the fastest under-20 time overall at 19.49 seconds, but Gout’s 19.67-second run has now been recognized as a new official milestone.

Speaking after his victory, Gout said he had been waiting for this moment for a long time and was thrilled with the result.
