Metro53 - Islamabad: Strong earthquake tremors were felt in the federal capital and several other cities across the country on Monday, causing panic among residents.
According to initial reports, the tremors were experienced in Islamabad as well as Chitral, Swat, Nowshera and Rawalpindi, among other areas.
Eyewitnesses said people rushed out of their homes, reciting prayers as the ground shook.
Authorities at the seismic monitoring centre are assessing the magnitude and depth of the quake. Meanwhile, district administrations have issued alerts to rescue agencies to remain on standby.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage were available at the time of filing this report.
