Metro53 - RAWALPINDI: Police in Rawalpindi said on Sunday they had registered a case after a woman alleged she was repeatedly sexually assaulted while being confined at a hotel in the city, and that her infant daughter was later taken away from her.
According to the first information report, the complainant, a resident of Vehari, said she had moved to Rawalpindi around nine years ago with her father and earned a living by selling miswak. She said she had been staying at a hotel in the Pirwadhai area after her father returned home.
The woman alleged that the hotel manager and a female suspect kept her confined in a room and repeatedly subjected her to sexual abuse through different men over a period of time. She told police that she later became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl at a civil hospital in Rawalpindi.
She further alleged that after the birth, her daughter was forcibly taken from her and she was threatened with harm if she reported the matter to the authorities.
Taking notice of the allegations, City Police Officer Khalid Hamdani ordered an inquiry under the supervision of senior officers. Police said a case had been registered, a female suspect had been arrested, and the infant girl had been recovered safely.
Investigators said further inquiry was under way, while efforts were continuing to arrest the remaining suspect named in the case.
