Metro53 - GUJRAT: A truck driver was killed in a collision between two Mazda trucks near Dhirkay Kalan stop on GT Road in Gujrat, rescue officials said on Friday.
According to reports, one of the trucks had broken down and was parked on the roadside when another Mazda truck travelling from Gujrat to Lahore rammed into it from behind.
Police said the deceased, identified as 30-year-old Najeebullah, son of Shah Wazir and a resident of Charsadda, was the driver of the broken-down truck and was lying beneath the vehicle at the time of the accident.
As a result of the collision, the moving truck ran over him, causing critical injuries. He died at the scene before medical assistance could be provided.
Rescue personnel, in the presence of police officials, shifted the body to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat for legal formalities.
Police have started an investigation into the incident.
