Metro53 - ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a further reduction in petroleum prices, with the new rates coming into effect from May 23, 2026, for the next one week.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs6 per litre, while high-speed diesel has become cheaper by Rs6.80 per litre.
Following the latest cut, petrol will now be available at Rs403.78 per litre, while the new price of diesel has been fixed at Rs402.78 per litre.
The Petroleum Division said the revised prices would remain effective for one week starting May 23.
Last week, the government had reduced petroleum prices by Rs5 per litre, bringing petrol and diesel prices down to Rs409.78 and Rs409.58 per litre, respectively.
Prior to that reduction, the government had significantly increased fuel prices, pushing petrol to Rs414.78 per litre and high-speed diesel to Rs414.58 per litre.
