Man Arrested After Alleged Aerial Firing Near Information Minister Ata Tarar’s Vehicle in Lahore

Metro53 - Lahore: A man was arrested after allegedly opening aerial fire near the vehicle of Federal Minister for Information Ata Tarar in Lahore's Defence area, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred late Saturday night within the jurisdiction of Defence-A. The suspect, who was driving a car, reportedly overtook the minister's vehicle and fired five shots into the air before attempting to flee.

Authorities launched an immediate operation using Safe City Authority surveillance cameras and modern technology to trace the suspect. He was subsequently arrested, and the weapon allegedly used in the incident was recovered. Police also took the suspect's vehicle into custody.

Speaking about the incident, Ata Tarar said he was travelling with his family when another vehicle overtook them from the left side. He claimed the young driver fired five shots into the air, after which he followed the vehicle and alerted police at a nearby checkpoint.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident, while further legal proceedings are underway.
