Metro53 - GUJRAT: Police have registered a case against more than 40 Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers, including a local party leader, over alleged aerial firing during a victory rally celebrating the party's success in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir election.
According to police, the motorcycle rally was held in Jalalpur Jattan following PML-N's victory in the Gujrat-based AJK constituency. During the procession, a participant allegedly opened aerial fire, and a video of the incident later circulated widely on social media.
A case has been registered at Saddar Jalalpur Jattan Police Station against local PML-N leader Chaudhry Ali Waraich Kalachor and more than 40 party workers under Sections 324, 148, 149 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
Meanwhile, the district leadership of PML-N rejected the case, describing it as fabricated and politically motivated. Chaudhry Ali Waraich said political opponents were unable to accept the party's victory in Gujrat and the success of Zeeshan Younas, adding that the party would respond to what he termed "unfair tactics" through legal and political means.
Police have launched an investigation, while the allegations and the defence presented by the accused remain subject to legal proceedings.
