Metro53 - GUJRAT (Web Desk): Three newborn babies were reportedly found abandoned in deserted areas in Gujrat and Jhelum in two separate incidents, raising serious concerns over the abandonment of infants.
According to details, in the outskirts of Gujrat, a woman allegedly put her newborn twins—a boy and a girl—in a sack and abandoned them in a deserted area of Momdi Pur Syedan.
Fortunately, a child collecting garbage spotted the babies and informed a nearby household. Rescue 1122 was subsequently called, and the newborn twins were rescued. After receiving initial medical treatment, the infants were shifted to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital.
Police reached the scene after being informed and, with the help of video footage, allegedly traced and arrested the woman suspected of abandoning the twins. A case was also registered against her.
In a separate incident in Jhelum on the same day, a newborn baby girl was allegedly placed in a plastic bag and abandoned in bushes by a couple. A passerby noticed the infant and alerted Rescue 1122, whose personnel rescued the baby and shifted her to hospital.
Authorities are reportedly searching for the couple allegedly involved in the Jhelum incident.
