Metro53 - LAHORE (Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former MNA Captain (retd.) Safdar Awan has reflected on his political journey, family background and future ambitions, saying that securing ministerial positions or other high offices has never been the purpose of his life.
Speaking during a podcast hosted by Farrukh Shahbaz Waraich, Captain Safdar said he entered politics after serving in the military and later became a member of the National Assembly. However, he maintained that holding a ministry or any major government position was never his ultimate objective.
Captain Safdar said PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also played an important role in his political journey by encouraging him to contest elections. He added that even after entering politics, he did not hesitate to express views on certain issues that differed from his party's position.
He said there was a distinction between working within Parliament to contribute to legislation and raising one's voice for the Constitution and rule of law from outside Parliament.
According to Captain Safdar, his fundamental objective remains the promotion of justice and the supremacy of the Constitution and law, rather than the pursuit of political office.
