Metro53 - ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) — On the occasion of the Sikh religious festival, Pakistan has established an example of religious tolerance and interfaith harmony by opening the Kartarpur Corridor.

India had suspended the movement of Sikh pilgrims through the Kartarpur Corridor since May 2025, citing the Pahalgam incident as a pretext. Meanwhile, the Sikh community continuously demanded the opening of the corridor for religious rituals and pilgrimage to holy sites in Pakistan.

In this regard, a resolution advocating for the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor was passed in the Indian Punjab Assembly on October 27, 2026. Demonstrating religious goodwill, the Government of Pakistan announced the opening of the corridor on September 17, 2026.

The Government of Pakistan has completed all arrangements to facilitate religious rituals for the 557th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.

Indian Sikh pilgrims praised Pakistan's initiative, noting that in contrast to India's stance, Pakistan has demonstrated religious tolerance and peace-building by opening the Kartarpur Corridor. According to the pilgrims, the love, sincerity, and friendly demeanor of the Pakistani government and people represent a fine example of interfaith harmony.
