Metro53 - GUJRAT: Allegations of corruption within the police force have intensified as Sub-Inspector Shoaib Shah formally lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Establishment against OSI In-Charge Inspector Mehr Atiq.

According to the application, Inspector Atiq allegedly misused his official authority to repeatedly demand and accept bribes. SI Shah claimed that the officer first took Rs5,000, then Rs10,000, and later Rs50,000 from him.

In addition to cash payments, the complainant alleged that Inspector Atiq also demanded an expensive iPhone 17 as part of the bribe.

The application has urged senior authorities, including the Punjab Inspector General of Police and the Gujrat Regional Police Officer, to initiate a transparent and impartial inquiry into the matter.

Observers note that the case will serve as a test for the police hierarchy and the Anti-Corruption Establishment on how seriously they pursue action against such grave allegations.
