Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk) – Gujrat Police has released its annual performance report for 2025, highlighting a significant reduction in crime across the district. Effective operations were carried out against wanted criminals, gangs, drug dealers, and illegal arms holders.
According to the report, incidents of robbery with murder decreased by 100%, murder cases by 30%, robbery by 32%, rape cases by 12%, and overall crimes against individuals dropped by 33%.
The report details that police conducted major crackdowns against dangerous criminals, absconding fugitives, drug traffickers, and organized networks of thieves. Seizures included stolen property worth millions, large quantities of narcotics, and illegal firearms.
During 2025, over 5,428 wanted and fugitive suspects were arrested, including 2,994 Category-A and 2,434 Category-B fugitives. Special teams were formed to dismantle gangs involved in theft, robbery, and burglary, tracing 110 dangerous gangs using modern forensic technology and professional expertise.
From these gangs, 320 members were arrested, and stolen property worth over PKR 136.1 million was recovered and returned to rightful owners. Additionally, 905 stolen mobile phones were recovered and returned to citizens.
Operations against drug traffickers resulted in the arrest of 2,425 suspects, with the recovery of 710 kg of hashish, 36 kg of ice, 236 kg of heroin, and 9,510 bottles of alcohol. In cases related to illegal weapons, 1,927 FIRs were registered, and numerous Kalashnikovs, rifles, guns, pistols, and revolvers were seized.
Gujrat Traffic Police also issued over 170,000 challans for traffic violations, recovering more than PKR 166.6 million, improving traffic management across the district.
Authorities stated that eliminating drug and weapon culture from Gujrat remains a key mission, and the district will not provide shelter to criminal elements.
