Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): Police in Lalamusa carried out a successful operation and recovered illegal fireworks worth millions of rupees, arresting one accused in the process. According to police, the seized fireworks had been stockpiled for sale on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. The operation is being termed an important step toward public safety and enforcement of the law.
According to details, on the special directives of DPO Gujrat Rana Umar Farooq, a district-wide crackdown against fireworks is ongoing. In this regard, under the supervision of DSP Lalamusa Circle Chaudhry Ehsan Zafar Sandhu, SHO City Police Station Lalamusa Inspector Nasir Mahmood, along with his police team, conducted a successful operation based on secret information. During the raid, the accused, Afaq son of Abdul Hameed, a resident of Nizam Pura, was arrested.
Police recovered a large quantity of fireworks from the possession of the accused, with an estimated value of millions of rupees. During initial interrogation, the accused revealed that the fireworks were stored for sale on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. Police stated that legal action is being taken against the accused in accordance with the law, and information regarding other individuals linked to this network is also being collected.
On this occasion, DPO Gujrat Rana Umar Farooq delivered a clear message, stating that fireworks are not a game but a violation of the law, posing serious threats to human lives and property. He said that every year valuable lives are lost and citizens suffer severe losses due to fireworks; therefore, a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against this menace.
The DPO further stated that strict legal action will be taken without discrimination against those involved in fireworks and this illegal business. He also appealed to the public to refrain from such unlawful activities and to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity so that timely action can be taken.
According to police, a case has been registered against the arrested accused, and further investigation is underway. Authorities said that in view of Shab-e-Barat, surveillance across the district has been further intensified, and the crackdown against those involved in the illegal fireworks trade will continue to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
