Metro53 - Assam (Web Desk): In a horrifying incident in the Indian state of Assam, seven men allegedly gang-raped a 28-year-old woman at knifepoint in front of her boyfriend.
According to Indian media reports, the incident took place on February 19, and a case was registered following the victim’s complaint. The woman stated that at least seven men assaulted her one by one and later forced her to transfer ₹10,000 to a bank account.
The victim’s family said she and her boyfriend were in a car on a bypass road a few kilometers from Silchar city when a group of men suddenly appeared, dragged both of them out, and assaulted the woman in front of her boyfriend at knifepoint.
The case has been registered at Silchar Sadar Police Station. Police confirmed that the victim has identified two of the accused, who have been arrested. The suspects are identified as 25-year-old Nilutpal Das and 27-year-old Subol Das, both residents of Silchar city.
Authorities reported that the victim has undergone a medical examination, and her statement has been recorded. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, with thousands raising their voices on social media demanding strict action against the perpetrators.
