Metro53 - ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified PTI leader Murad Saeed and de-notified him as a senator, declaring his general seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vacant.
According to an official notification, the disqualification has been carried out under Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution, following the fulfillment of legal requirements.
Officials stated that the decision was taken after due process, and a formal notification has been issued in this regard.
Mr Saeed had earlier been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi, which led to his disqualification under the relevant constitutional provisions.
