Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): A dignified ceremony was held at Police Lines Gujrat for the formal transfer of command, where newly appointed District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Farooq officially took charge of his position.
Outgoing DPO Rana Umar Farooq handed over the command stick to Akhtar Farooq in a ceremonial event attended by senior police officials, including SP Investigation Riaz Naz, DSPs, SHOs, and other officers.
The ceremony began with both officers visiting the Martyrs’ Memorial, where they laid floral wreaths and offered prayers to pay tribute to the sacrifices of fallen personnel. A smartly turned-out police contingent also presented a formal salute on the occasion.
During the event, SP Investigation presented a commemorative shield to Rana Umar Farooq in recognition of his valuable services and contributions to Gujrat Police.
In his farewell address, Rana Umar Farooq stated that transfers and postings are a routine part of service, adding that leading Gujrat Police was an honor and a memorable experience for him.
The ceremony concluded with a warm farewell to the outgoing DPO and a heartfelt welcome to the newly appointed DPO, Akhtar Farooq.
