Metro53 - JHELUM: Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgan has imposed Section 144 across the district ahead of Eid al-Adha in an effort to ensure public safety, cleanliness and maintenance of law and order during the festive period.

According to an official notification, the restrictions will remain in force from May 25 to May 30, 2026, across the district.

Under the orders, the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals will only be permitted at officially designated sale points established by the district administration. Trading of hides without a no-objection certificate (NOC), as well as the dumping of animal waste and offal on roads, drains and public places, has also been prohibited.

The administration has further banned the burning of animal heads and trotters in public areas to prevent foul smell, environmental pollution and the spread of diseases.

Swimming in rivers, canals, mini dams and other water bodies has also been prohibited during the Eid holidays. In addition, authorities have imposed restrictions on one-wheeling, over-speeding, the use of motorcycles without silencers or with modified exhausts, and the misuse of loudspeakers.

The notification also bans the installation of temporary mechanical rides, while permanent amusement rides will only be allowed to operate after obtaining fitness certificates.

District authorities have directed assistant commissioners, police officials and other relevant departments to ensure strict implementation of Section 144 measures to maintain peace and sanitation arrangements during Eidul Azha celebrations.
