Metro53 - Jhelum (Web Desk): A gun attack on Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was foiled after the attacker was killed in retaliatory fire, while a police official sustained injuries.
According to reports, firing took place outside the Quran Research Academy located at GTS Chowk within the limits of City Police Station. The armed assailant opened fire when police attempted to stop him, prompting a retaliatory response.
Police stated that the unidentified attacker was killed on the spot, while his identity has not yet been confirmed. A heavy police contingent reached the scene following the incident.
Police spokesperson Kashif Kiani said that Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was outside the Quran o Sunnah Research Academy, where he delivers lectures, when a man entered the premises with a 9mm pistol, lay on the ground, and opened fire.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jhelum, Chaudhry Shafique, confirmed that the attacker was killed in police firing at the scene. He added that Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza remained safe during the attack.
