Metro53 - GUJRAT: A 22-year-old man was killed in a tragic road accident near Sarai Alamgir on the Buraq City Highway after he fell from a motorcycle and was run over by a passing bus, police and rescue officials said.
According to initial reports, three people were riding on a motorcycle when the victim, identified as Rukhsar Ahmed, son of Gulzar Ahmed, lost his balance and fell onto the road during the journey.
Officials said that a bus approaching from behind was unable to avoid the fallen rider and ran over him. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The deceased was reportedly a resident of Kharian.
Rescue teams reached the site shortly after receiving information about the accident and shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Sarai Alamgir, in the presence of police officials.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The accident once again highlights concerns over road safety and the risks associated with overcrowded motorcycle travel on busy highways.
