Punjab Food Authority Fines Food Businesses in Gujrat Over Safety Violations

Metro53 - GUJRAT:The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out a district-wide inspection drive in Gujrat, taking action against several food businesses found violating food safety and hygiene regulations.

According to the authority, inspection teams visited 43 food outlets across the district. During the operation, 18 food businesses were issued improvement notices for failing to comply with hygiene standards and food safety regulations, while five outlets were fined a total of Rs54,000 for various violations.

The enforcement teams also confiscated and destroyed 11 kilograms of expired sweets along with other prohibited food items deemed unfit for consumption. In addition, one food sample was collected and sent to a laboratory for further analysis.

The Punjab Food Authority reiterated that ensuring the availability of safe, hygienic, and quality food remains its top priority. It said inspection campaigns and legal action against violators would continue across the district to safeguard public health.
