Metro53 - GUJRAT (Web Desk): An attempted murder suspect was re-arrested in an injured condition following a police encounter near Gujjar Chowk in the jurisdiction of Sadar Jalalpur Jattan Police Station, Gujrat.
According to police, suspect Khalil-ur-Rehman alias Khailo, who was arrested in an attempted murder case, was being taken to recover a weapon when four armed men riding two motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.
During the exchange of fire, the attackers managed to free their accomplice, Khalil-ur-Rehman, from police custody and fled the scene.
After the firing stopped, police launched a search operation in the area. During the operation, the suspect was found injured and taken back into custody.
Police said Khalil-ur-Rehman was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while efforts are underway to arrest the armed men who helped him escape.
