Metro53 - LAHORE (Web Desk): Significant progress has been made in the case filed over allegations of harassment and death threats against Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal at the Lahore Sessions Court.
The investigation officer has declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab Assembly Member Saqib Chadhar and his wife, Samira, innocent for the time being, informing the court that their arrest is not required.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) investigation officer presented the investigation report regarding Saqib Chadhar and his wife before the court.
The investigation officer told the court that the NCCIA had changed the investigation and formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT), following which the matter was investigated afresh.
In light of the investigation officer’s statement, PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar withdrew his interim bail application.
The court disposed of the bail applications of Saqib Chadhar and his wife Samira on the basis of their withdrawal.
During the hearing, actress Momina Iqbal appeared before the court along with her lawyer, Adnan Ehsan. The actress’s counsel objected to the investigation report, arguing that the NCCIA had changed the investigation without taking the complainant into confidence.
The lawyer further contended that the new investigation officer had allegedly cleared the suspects without conducting a complete investigation.
Momina Iqbal’s counsel requested the court to review the investigation process and the decision to declare the suspects innocent.
It may be recalled that the NCCIA had registered a case on the complaint of actress Momina Iqbal against PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar over allegations of harassment and issuing death threats.
