Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk): The drop scene of the South Cantonment bank robbery has unfolded with the arrest of the prime suspect, a British national, along with the recovery of the looted cash and vehicle.
In a brilliant operation by Lahore Police, the prime suspect behind the bank robbery on Ghazi Road, South Cantonment, was brought to justice. The suspect is a British citizen who worked as a taxi driver in Scotland for six years and arrived in Pakistan on September 16. After running out of the £1,200 he brought with him, the suspect targeted the bank, looting Rs 726,000 and two guards' weapons within 9 minutes before escaping.
Using modern technology, the police traced and arrested the suspect while he was playing a game at home. Recovered from the suspect's possession were Rs 426,000 in cash from the robbery, a white Honda Civic RS Turbo used in the crime (with its number plate concealed using black paint), two pistols, and a 12-bore rifle. The suspect disclosed that he purchased the weapons in Sialkot and ammunition from Thokar, prompting an investigation into the sources of the illegal arms. He had also rented a vehicle for Rs 300,000 to escape to Islamabad.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran stated that Lahore is not a safe haven for criminals, and lawbreakers cannot escape the grip of the law under any circumstances. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority's modern system serves as the backbone of the police and provided crucial assistance in this operation. Lahore Police remain constantly alert to protect the lives and property of citizens.
