Metro53 - Jhelum (Web Desk): On the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mir Raza Ozgan, strict monitoring of the bidding process at the Jhelum vegetable market is underway to ensure the supply of affordable and quality food items to citizens during Ramadan.

The district administration has remained present at the market for the third consecutive day to eliminate profiteering and ensure fruits and vegetables are sold to the public at officially notified rates. The supervision of the auction process was carried out by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Jhelum Shagufta Jabeen, SDO Para Shahid Mahmood, Secretary Market Committee Faisal Bashir, and the Tehsildar Jhelum.

Officers closely reviewed prices, quality, and supply mechanisms during the auction to ensure that no illegal profiteering took place at any level.

Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgan issued strict instructions to price control magistrates to ensure their presence in the field and take immediate action against those involved in overpricing. He warned that shops violating the law would be sealed and offenders sent directly to jail.

The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to strictly enforce the reduced rates finalized at the vegetable market across all markets in the district to provide real relief to the public. Relevant staff have been directed to respond promptly and impartially to public complaints.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that providing affordable, quality, and sufficient food items during Ramadan is the district administration’s top priority, and no leniency will be shown toward profiteers, who will be dealt with firmly under the law.
