Metro53 - GUJRAT: A father and his daughter were killed while his son sustained critical injuries in a tragic road accident near Galiana in Punjab's Gujrat district, rescue officials said.
According to rescue sources, the victims were travelling on a motorcycle when a speeding car coming from the opposite direction collided with them.
The impact proved fatal for the father and daughter, who died at the scene, while the injured boy suffered severe injuries.
Police reached the accident site shortly after being informed of the incident. However, the driver of the car managed to flee the scene before authorities arrived.
Rescue personnel shifted the bodies of the deceased and the injured child to a hospital in Gujrat. Hospital officials said the boy remains in critical condition and is receiving medical treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are making efforts to trace and arrest the driver involved in the fatal crash.
The accident has once again highlighted concerns over reckless driving and road safety on busy highways and roads in the region.
