Metro53 - ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has shared a statement on social media platform X regarding Jewish identity and the role of maternal lineage in determining religious identity.
In his post, Khawaja Asif stated that, according to Jewish traditions, religious identity is passed down through the mother. He said that if a person's mother is Jewish, the person is considered Jewish regardless of the father's religion.
The Defence Minister further remarked that, within Jewish tradition, maternity was regarded as a biological certainty, while paternity was considered a matter of possibility. He linked the principle to a time when DNA testing was not available.
His remarks have drawn attention on social media, particularly in the context of discussions surrounding Jewish identity and religious traditions.
